Dr Maile O’Hara

Clinical Psychologist

Dr. O’Hara completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the New School for Social Research in New York City. She is honoured to have worked at top hospitals in New York City, most recently as a program training director. Since relocating to the U.K. 4 years ago she has continued her private practice both internationally and in London. 

For ten years Dr O’Hara was a New York City high school history teacher and has since continued to seek out opportunities to work with young people and their families. Her extensive child experience has spurred a particular interest in psychodynamic therapy as well as relationally oriented therapy. Dr O’Hara completed her internship at Lenox Hill Hospital and her postdoctoral fellowship at Bellevue/ NYU Program for Survivors of Torture where she became the Director of Clinical Psychology Training. She has taught extensively on topics related to trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, working with survivors of torture, different trauma treatment modalities, vicarious trauma as well as working with interpreters and teaching supervision skills to supervisors. Dr. O’Hara also worked with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Department of Homeland Security training asylum officers and has worked extensively with in the immigration courts. Additionally, as a faculty psychologist she worked with children and families as the Psychology Externship Director at Montefiore Medical Center Child Annex. She has been treating both children and adults in private practice for the last 10 years.
