Dr Diane Gindner

Consultant Paediatrician in Neurodevelopment

Dr Gindner is a Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician with over 30 years of clinical experience in the NHS. She specialises in the assessment of Autism (2-16 years), ADHD (6-15 years), Developmental Coordination Disorder (Dyspraxia), Developmental Delay, Learning Difficulties and associated Sleep and Eating problems.

She has a special interest in Autism and does her assessments alongside a meticulously selected team of speech and language therapists and/or clinical psychologists, all with well over a decade of NHS experience. She has been acknowledged for her role in the transformation of the Autism pathway at CNWL.

Dr Gindner strongly believes in holistic assessment. Her goal is to help each child recognise their potential, focussing upon their strengths with neuroaffirmative language. And through her work, she continually endeavours to champion the mindset that neurodiversity is a difference, not a disability.

A dual British/German national, she completed her medical degree at the University of Saarland, Medical Faculty Homburg, Germany and studied as a medical undergraduate at Leicester University Medical School on a scholarship and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

Dr Gindner did her postgraduate training on the North Thames Paediatric Training Scheme working at many leading hospitals including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. In 1999 she became a Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and in 2007, was elected Fellow (FRCPCH).

Her Masters’ degree in Paediatrics was completed at University College London/Institute of Child Health in 2005 and included a research project at Great Ormond Street Hospital which led to publications in “Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology” and “Brain and Development”.

Dr Gindner has worked as a Consultant Paediatrician in Neurodevelopment in the NHS since 2007 holding Consultant posts at Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte Hospitals and at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL).

In 2018, her work in Paediatrics was recognised with an NHS Clinical Excellence Award.

Dr Gindner is wholly committed to a holistic approach as she believes neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and ADHD and other developmental conditions such as Dyspraxia overlap - rarely occurring as a single condition - and therefore require a multidisciplinary approach. Children and their parents/carers value the open, warm and empathetic rapport they build with her. She also extends her involvement to include liaising with nursery or school staff through their SenCo Departments.

Dr Gindner and her team have just one aim. And that is to help each child succeed and flourish to their potential.
