Dr Brinda Paramothayan
Family Doctor with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Expertise
Dr Brinda Paramothayan completed her Medical degree at the University of Liverpool. She went on to obtain Diplomas in Child Health and in Pregnancy and Maternal Health. She completed postgraduate training in General Practice after hospital posts which included Paediatrics and Psychiatry and gained Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Dr Brinda worked as a GP in Teddington for the past 18 years, where she was well-regarded and popular amongst patients and colleagues. Here, she developed a specialist interest in children and young people’s mental and physical health.
As Clinical Lead for Child and Adolescent Mental Health in Richmond, she helped design a local, accessible pathway for ADHD and ASD assessments.
Dr Brinda continues to work for the NHS offering Paediatric and CAMHS Clinical advice for service planning and delivery across South West London.
Dr Brinda takes a holistic approach when assessing children, acknowledging the impact of mental health on their overall wellbeing. She understands the frustration of delay in diagnosis and the effect on the young person and their families, having seen this first- hand in her years as a family doctor and also as a parent.
Where appropriate Dr Brinda will arrange blood tests and ECGs. She works closely with ADHD Embrace, a local charity.
